Rev. Emily McGinley, Pastor, Urban Village Church (Hyde Park | Woodlawn), Macedonian Ministry Cohort Facilitator, Chicago, IL
Emily, why did you say, “Yes!” to being the Facilitator of this cohort?
“I have been blessed to participate in a few different clergy cohorts over the past few years. Each experience has been incredibly rich and a source of encouragement. At this moment, I feel ready and called to create the same kind of space for other colleagues to connect, share, and thrive in a non-competitive, inspiring community marked by mutuality, compassion, and imagination as ministers and people of faith.”
Rev. Emily McGinley is the founding pastor of Urban Village Church (Hyde Park-Woodlawn) and, beginning January 2020, will be the Executive Pastor of Urban Village Church. She became a Christian in the non-denominational evangelical tradition before entering ordained ministry in the PC(USA). Rev. McGinley has extensive experience working with leaders across diverse networks and Christian traditions, having preached and presented nationally on the topics of vocational discernment, preaching for millennials, church planting, social media in ministry, inclusive evangelism, and anti-racist church leadership. In addition to coaching individuals and congregations, she is a contributing writer to the book, Inter-Cultural Ministry: Hope for a Changing World. Her commitment to building gospel-shaped inclusive spaces that nurture, challenge, and practice radical hospitality have helped cultivate beloved community at UVC and beyond.
